Here you can meet and buy directly from the artists at Scotland’s only major studio ceramics event. Spread across four large marquees on the Palace lawns, over 80 studio ceramics artists are taking part.

Open Friday, Saturday and Sunday
10am – 5pm daily.

Entry
Adults £7 (includes admission to gardens)
Accompanied under 16’s free.
Free parking.
Refreshments on site.

(Please be aware that many of the exhibitors are unable to process credit card transactions, and the nearest cash machines are two miles away in Perth.)

Because of the continued uncertainty of Covid19 all of this year’s shows will run with the same precautions in place as last year. When stepping under the canvas of the marquees visitors will be asked to please put on a face covering, observe social distancing where possible and be patient, kind and considerate to other visitors. Please remember their fears and anxieties may not mirror your own.

Keeping everyone safe, reassuring visitors and making sure everybody enjoys their day at Potfest Scotland 2021, is the utmost priority.

– Tickets are for sale online from May, for those that want to limit their social contact and cash transactions. We will of course still be offering cash entry at the gate, on the day.

– We’re asking visitors to be mindful of others personal space and adhere to 1m + social distancing.

– there are a reduced the number of exhibitors in each marquee and we have brought them out from the middle of the tents so that it’s possible to view their work without even entering the covered areas (the sides of the marquees will be open as usual).

– We have provided exhibitors with PPE and offered advice on best practice procedures.

– There will be several large hand sanitiser stations around the site.

– We ask visitors to please wear a mask when they are interacting with those outside of their social bubble.

– There will be extra toilet facilities this year so that units can be closed and cleaned on rotation.

– There will be a facility in place for Track & Trace.

Whilst we are in trying times, we want this years event to be as relaxed and enjoyable as usual. As someone said (several months ago) “we’re all in this together.” So as long as we adhere to the measures in place, appreciate and consider others concerns and anxieties we should be.

Craft Week Scotland is the perfect time to celebrate over 20 years making pots on the elemental Isle of Skye. I am moving from a small converted garage by the house into a purpose built studio on the croft with an even more glorious view. I wish I could welcome you all here in person but until that is possible again I shall be sharing a video tour (technology permitting!)

Patricia Shone – New Ceramics at Beaux Arts Bath

Come and see my new work at Beaux Arts Bath, some of it made during lockdown. I am delighted to be returning to this lovely gallery, especially after such a difficult few months. Fingers crossed all will be well for the opening on October 10th. The staff at Beaux Arts have been working hard to provide a safe and enjoyable space. Sadly though, there’ll be no opening viewing due to Covid19 safety restrictions.

I’m always very happy to have work in the South West of England. I spent a lot of my childhood near Dartmoor, and it had a deep effect on my love of wild places.

Hand building with a difference!

I am delighted to have been invited to the Clay Loft for a masterclass. My second only in 10 years! I plan to show some of the inspirations for my work from the Isle of Skye, and show some of the techniques I use to create the textured pieces. There will be a hands on opportunity too.

Realising Form 09/04/2020 - 31/08/2020

Realising Form

‘Realising Form’ invites six makers from across the British Isles and Ireland. The artists share a rigorous and intuitive approach to unearthing objects and vessels, handcrafted in clay, iron, concrete, glass and Jesmonite. The online exhibition explores material possibilities from individual locations and attests to the maker’s personal methodology. The work demonstrates an expressive response to landscape and nature, architecture and the impact of human experience in the finished work.

Featured makers include: Malgorzata Bany (London, UK), Daniel Freyne (Clackmannan, Scotland), Harry Morgan (Manchester, UK), Nuala O’Donovan (Cork, Ireland), Sue Paraskeva (Isle of Wight, UK), Patricia Shone (Isle of Skye, Scotland).

Virtual Ceramic Art London 2020

#virtualcal2020 #instaCAL #VirtualCAL

With the disappointment of the cancellation of Ceramic Art London due to the corona virus outbreak, potters are trying to make the best of it! We are rather used to dealing with disappointments. Every time we open the kiln expectations are dashed, but very often although the results are not what we expected or hoped for they can surprise us with alternative forms of beauty.

I plan to put some of the work online to view and purchase. A virtual Ceramic Art London. There are other exhibitors trying the same thing too and the organisers of CAL will be promoting our efforts. So if you are missing the joy of the real Ceramic Art London I hope this will help.

This will happen on my Instagram page  to begin with  https://www.instagram.com/patriciashoneceramics/?hl=en and then on my website shop. Hopefully I can get it to work in a short time!

Textures of the Land

Textures of the Land at The Scottish Gallery, Edinburgh is my first major solo exhibition. I am delighted to be showing at this gallery again after a successful joint show in 2018.

Working from the Isle of Skye for the past 25 years I see my work as an expression of the journey towards understanding my place in life. I can’t separate it from my experience of living in this landscape or from the path that brought me here.
The exhibition will feature new work in the Erosion Series. It is a culmination of the development of my particular making methods and will include pieces from all three of the firing processes: raku, charcoal saggar and wood firing.

The show can be previewed online from the 19th December at   www.scottish-gallery.co.uk

York Ceramics Fair 2019

I’m looking forward to being part of this relatively new show on the pottery circuit. The Craft Potters Association and the Centre of Ceramic Art at York Art Gallery are joining together to present the York Ceramics Fair and the CoCA Day of Clay with events, workshops, talks, demonstrations and selling exhibitions.

It’s perfect timing for early Christmas planners but happily free from too much tinsel. Brown and crusty pots in abundance! And some porcelain too.

“This exhibition (11-20 October) represents the coming together of three artists, spanning the Highlands and Islands, who share a common interest in elemental material and process. Through their work, each individually draws from the northern landscape and references their own notion of community and place.”

Shaun Fraser @shaun_fraser  Patricia Shone @patriciashoneceramics  Vivian Ross-Smith @vrosssmith

This has been a great chance for me to revisit some time based clay installation ideas from over the years. The effect of water on dry clay can be quite dramatic. These works gives a chance to see how structures disintegrate and change over time, water being the agent of that change. Also included are experiments with porcelain and newsprint creating pieces as fragile as memories.

CIRCUS is a collective of practising, professional artists and producers committed to making contemporary art accessible to a broader Highland audience as well as supporting recent art graduates from our area. We are all based in Inverness and work across many different disciplines including painting, printmaking, sculpture, film and performance.
