Porcelain is one of the types of clay I use occasionally. It is famous for it’s smoothness and translucency and can be used to make the finest, thinnest, whitest china. I like to make it heavy! Porcelain has great heft and density in the hand and a coolness to the touch. It is a difficult clay to use with my techniques but this is a challenge I relish.
I use a white firing porcelain and also a ‘black’ version which, in the wood firing, gives beautiful, soft grey and russet tones.
