Peat Cut Jar
A hand made textured jar with dark iron tenmoku glazed interior. Made with a high iron content clay and painted with porcelain slip after carving and stretching. The exterior surface is left unglazed. The texture is inspired by the patterns of abandoned peat cutting banks as it weathers and erodes. This piece has been wood fired with local pine which has given it a warm toasted surface. The interior glaze is smooth and dark and holds water.
