Rolling Erosion Bowl 2

Rolling Erosion Bowl. This textured hand made bowl has been fired in a charcoal saggar in the wood kiln where it takes on the soft greys and blacks from the firing process. It’s exterior surface has a smoother texture than much of my work, I allowed the clay to stretch without beating or cutting it. The interior is glazed with a transparent basalt glaze which allows the deep hues of the clay to show through. It was made from a solid mass of clay and stretched and carved out by hand to form it’s shape.

It has a rounded base making it very comfortable in the hand, but not ideal on a boat.
