A lidded Strata Hill Jar. This piece is raku fired with a naked raku interior. The texture has stretched particularly nicely, as reminiscent of the sea and sandy shore as it is of rock formations. I have given it a lid like the Cuillin, rising steeply from the ocean.
Like all raku fired earthenware It needs to be displayed away from direct sunlight which may, over time, bleach the dark tones.
Porous and not suitable for food use. It may be washed but must be dried thoroughly away from precious surfaces to avoid staining.
