Township Cup 3, Tarskavaig

£100.00

Township Cups and bowls are made using local clays harvested from around me on the Isle of Skye, and further afield in the Highlands and islands. I name them after the specific places to locate them and dedicate them to the small communities which lived and worked the land here. These three examples have been raku fired, unglazed. The low temperature firing retains some of the colour of the clay in its natural state. Sometimes bright, sometimes a subtle blush. Each township has a distinct texture.

They are warm and gentle in the hand. Like all raku fired earthenware they need to be displayed away from direct sunlight which may, over time, bleach the dark tones.

Porous and not suitable for food use. They may be washed but must be dried thoroughly away from precious surfaces to prevent staining.
